ALLEN, Texas, Nov. 30, 2022 –In recognition of its ongoing commitment to the communities it serves, Credit Union of Texas (CUTX) was awarded the 2022 International Torch Awards for Ethics from the International Association of Better Business Bureaus (IABBB). The IABBB serves as the network hub for better business bureaus (BBBs) in the US, Canada and Mexico and seeks to foster honest and responsive relationships between businesses and consumers. The International Torch Awards for Ethics, presented annually since 1996, honors businesses that instill consumer confidence and advance a trustworthy marketplace for all.

According to the IABBB, winners and finalists were selected for their leadership’s dedication to ethical business practices, organizational culture, internal practices to build better customer relationships and commitment to the community. CUTX received its award for a number of its outstanding business practices, including its monthly recognition of employees as part of the Experience Champions program, its commitment to educating North Texas communities on personal finances and its service to the community through its five key giveback areas: suburban homelessness, domestic violence, special needs, food scarcity and child advocacy.

“We've been fortunate to be recognized by several groups over the years, but few are as recognizable as the Better Business Bureau,” said Eric Pointer, president and CEO of CUTX. “To be acknowledged by an organization that’s synonymous with trust, integrity and ethics is meaningful in so many ways. To our members, it says that they can count on us to do the right thing as we put people before profits. To our employees, it’s well-deserved recognition for all that they do for the communities we serve. And to those that aren’t members yet, it says that CUTX is a financial institution you can trust – even in uncertain times.”

Earlier this year, CUTX was recognized with the 2021 Torch Awards for Ethics from its local BBB Serving North Central Texas, a requirement for entry into the BBB International Torch Awards for Ethics program.

“The International Torch Awards for Ethics is one of the most important programs we do each year,” said Kip Morse, IABBB president and CEO of IABBB. “BBB sets standards to make trust a fundamental component of the American marketplace, but these businesses are out there every day making it happen. By awarding them the 2022 International Torch Award for Ethics, we are demonstrating to the business community that adhering to Better Business Bureau ethical standards is the hallmark of successful, competitive companies.”

Similar to the BBB Serving North Central Texas, the IABBB selected winners for the 2022 International Torch Awards for Ethics according to company size and nonprofit categories. CUTX was one of five winners, winning the more-than-500-employees category.
