Lyndsey Caban: Welcoming Brayden with the Help of CUTX

I met my husband in 2013. He will tell you he knew we were special together right away. I will tell you, he's crazy and he didn't know a thing (insert laugh here). Five years and one Disneyland proposal later, we were husband and wife. We wanted to start our family pretty soon after we got married, but life had other plans. We tried, unsuccessfully, to get pregnant year after year. We saved up enough funds to go through four rounds of fertility treatments, to no avail. We were heartbroken, exhausted, and completely through our savings account. Our doctor suggested another type of fertility treatment that we were more than willing to pursue, we just needed the means to pay for it. We were approved for enough money to cover the costs of our next round of fertility treatments. On March 4, 2022, we transferred Embryo #4. On November 22nd night, our son was born. He is everything we ever dreamed for, and more. People tell you that you will love your children. But you don't understand until they place them into your arms. Brayden is an energetic, baseball-loving, bubble-blowing, pantry-perusing one-year-old now. He's our everything. Every bit his dad. I can't imagine life without him. Had it not been for the CUTX HELOC, we would never have gotten to know him. We are completely and utterly blessed and grateful!

The Harriman Hub: Turning Dreams into Reality

Opening our HELOC came at a time when my husband and I were attempting to move closer to family. We had secured a construction loan for the max amount that we qualified for, but two-thirds of the way into the build it became apparent that we were going to run out of funds before completion. We opened our HELOC through the house we owned in Denison which gave us the last $35k needed to finish the build and move closer to our daughter. We now also live closer to my parents, siblings, and my husband's siblings as well. This has been a huge blessing as we also had our first baby together halfway through the build process and she is getting more time around her extended family than she would if we hadn't been able to move. We are so grateful that our HELOC made it possible, and although we live here full time, we joke that this is our vacation home because it still feels like a dream to be living here every day even though we moved in 9.5 months ago. We now enjoy 12 acres of beautiful land in a 3200 sq ft house with five playful barn cats, an active 1-year old, and fun 16-year-old.
