11th Annual Little Elm Special Olympics

Published January 5, 2021

CUTX had the honor of sponsoring the 2017 Little Elm Special Olympics. Hosted by Little Elm ISD, the event featured over 200 athletes from 11 districts including: Frisco, Lake Dallas, Sanger, Lovejoy, Pilot Point, Krum, Prosper, Aubrey, Argyle, Denton, and Little Elm.

It was all hands on deck as CUTX was accompanied by 300 student volunteers and 200 volunteers from the surrounding community.

The largest event of its kind in north Texas, it truly was a day of excitement. To kick off the event, a relay of athletes run the ceremonial torch along a parade route to light a cauldron inside the Little Elm Athletic Complex. Athletes then compete in two of several dozen different running and wheelchair relays, obstacles, javelin, softball throws, shot put, and jumping events. Athletes are then awarded a medal or ribbon after their performance. More importantly, everyone was rewarded with the pure joy of providing a stellar experience for the special population.

On behalf of everyone at CUTX, thank you for having us!
